Do you know an RCT Neighbourhood Hero?
This unprecedented year has brought significant challenges to our communities, firstly with the devastation brought by Storm Dennis and then closely followed by the coronavirus national emergency. Throughout, our communities have shown remarkable resilience and togetherness, with thousands coming forward to give their time to help others when they need it most.
To celebrate these acts of kindness and compassion, the Council is using the Neighbourhood Watch Awareness Week (7th – 13th June) to highlight the amazing responses across our communities and is encouraging residents to nominate individuals, community organisations and businesses who have been your RCT Neighbourhood Heroes.
To nominate an individual, a community group or business who you think deserves to be recognised, send an email requesting an application form to publichealthcommunitysafety@rctcbc.gov.uk.
In support of the campaign, the Council is also encouraging residents to place “RCT Hearts You” signs in their windows to show their appreciation for the help they have or are continuing to receive from frontline heroes, community organisations, businesses, or neighbours, family and friends. The signs are available to download here
Throughout the coronavirus national emergency, residents across RCT have been sharing their messages of thanks with frontline staff in the NHS and social care, as well as the Council’s own recycling crews and other services; but the Neighbourhood Heroes provides a chance for the “hidden heroes” in our community to get the recognition they deserve.
